How I clear
blocked drains.
I use high-pressure hydro-jetting to clear blocked drains and cut through root intrusion, not just push a cable through the worst of it.
It clears the line properly, and if there’s a bigger problem behind the blockage, I’ll tell you what I find.
What causes blocked drains in Adelaide homes?
Grease and soap build-up, tree roots, wet wipes and foreign objects, or old drain pipes that have cracked, shifted or collapsed underground, most blockages come down to one of these. A first-time blockage is usually simple. One that keeps coming back usually isn’t.
- Tree roots and root intrusion
- Grease, soap and waste build-up
- Wet wipes and foreign objects
- Old, cracked or shifted drain pipes
- Collapsed pipe sections
- Poor drainage fall or stormwater issues
When a blocked drain needs a CCTV inspection.
If it’s your first blockage, jetting usually solves it on the spot. If it’s happened before, or the clear doesn’t hold , I’ll run a CCTV drain inspection so I can see exactly what’s going on inside the pipe instead of guessing.
The camera can show root intrusion, cracked or shifted pipework, collapsed sections and other problems that explain why the blockage keeps coming back.
If the pipe itself is fine and it’s just prone to catching debris or roots over time, regular clearing might genuinely be the simplest, most affordable way to handle it. I’ll tell you if that’s the case, rather than pushing you toward work you don’t need.

When the blockage is
actually a damaged drain.

Sometimes a recurring block isn’t really a blockage problem, it’s a damaged pipe letting roots and debris back in every time.
If that’s what’s going on, I’ll show you exactly what the camera found and explain what fixing it properly actually involves.

Frequently asked questions.
What are the signs of a blocked drain?
Slow-draining sinks or showers, gurgling toilets, bad smells, water backing up and repeated blockages can all point to a blocked drain.
Why does my drain keep blocking?
If the same drain keeps blocking, there may be an underlying problem such as tree roots, cracked or shifted pipework, a collapsed section, grease build-up or poor drainage fall.
How do you clear blocked drains?
I use high-pressure hydro-jetting to clear the line and cut through build-up and root intrusion. If the blockage keeps returning, I can use CCTV to see what is happening inside the pipe.
Can hydro-jetting remove tree roots?
Hydro-jetting can cut through root intrusion and clear the line. If roots keep returning, that usually means there is a gap, crack or damaged section allowing them back into the drain.
When do you need a CCTV drain inspection?
A camera inspection is most useful when a blockage has happened before, the drain does not stay clear, or there are signs of damaged pipework. It shows what is actually happening inside the drain before recommending the next step.
What happens if the drain pipe is broken?
If the camera shows a cracked, shifted or collapsed section, I’ll show you what I found and explain the repair options so you can decide what makes sense.
Do you clear blocked stormwater drains?
Yes. Wakeline can help with blocked stormwater drains as well as toilets, kitchen sinks, bathroom drains and recurring sewer blockages.
