Two common reasons people call me about a toilet
My toilet isn't working properly
Constantly running, leaking, not filling, flushing poorly or something just isn't working as it should? I'll find the cause first and work out what actually needs repairing.
I want to replace my toilet
Your toilet doesn't have to be broken to replace it. If you're updating an old toilet, renovating, or simply want something newer, I can remove the existing unit and install the replacement.
Toilet problems I can help with
Toilet constantly running
Water keeps flowing into the bowl or cistern doesn't shut off properly.
Cistern not filling
The toilet takes too long to refill or doesn't fill properly after flushing.
Weak or incomplete flush
The toilet flushes poorly or needs more than one flush.
Leaking toilet
Water is leaking from the cistern, connections, seals or fittings.
Water around the base
Moisture around the toilet base can indicate a seal or connection problem.
Loose or unstable toilet
The toilet moves, rocks or no longer feels secure.
Faulty internal components
Inlet valves, outlet valves, seals and cistern parts can wear out over time.
Older toilet needing replacement
Sometimes the toilet still works, but replacing it is simply the better choice.

Sometimes the toilet itself isn't actually the problem.
If the water rises when you flush, drains away very slowly, or other drains around the house are behaving strangely at the same time, the problem may be further down the drainage system.
I’ll work out whether you’re dealing with a toilet fault or a blocked drain before deciding what needs to happen next.

Does the toilet need repairing or replacing?
A faulty cistern, valve, seal or other replaceable component doesn’t automatically mean you need a whole new toilet.
If the toilet is otherwise in good condition and a practical repair will solve the problem, that’s usually the sensible place to start.
But if the toilet itself is damaged, repeatedly causing problems, difficult to repair, or you’d rather replace an older unit than keep spending money on it, I’ll talk you through that option too.
The goal isn’t to replace a toilet that can reasonably be repaired. It’s to do what makes sense for the situation.
Repair where practical
Cistern parts, valves, seals and other components may be repairable.
Replace when it makes sense
Damage, repeated faults or a planned upgrade may make replacement the better option.
No pressure either way
I'll explain what I find and let you decide what suits you.

Want to replace your toilet?
Sometimes there’s nothing particularly wrong with the existing toilet. You might be renovating, updating an older bathroom, wanting something easier to clean, or simply ready to replace a toilet that’s seen better days.
I can remove the existing toilet, prepare the plumbing for the replacement and install the new unit properly.
Toilet installation isn't always a straight swap.
A replacement toilet needs to suit the existing plumbing layout. The position of the waste outlet, water connection and available space can affect what can be installed without changing the plumbing.
If you’re choosing a new toilet, I can help you understand what will work with the existing setup before installation.
Waste outlet position
The pan needs to suit the existing drainage connection.
Water connection
The inlet location can affect installation and compatibility.
Available space
The toilet needs to fit the room and existing plumbing layout.

3. Explain the options

Toilet Repair & Replacement FAQs
Why does my toilet keep running?
A toilet that keeps running is often caused by worn or faulty cistern components such as the inlet valve, outlet valve or seals. I’ll check the toilet and identify which part is actually causing the problem.
Why won't my toilet cistern fill properly?
A slow or non-filling cistern can be caused by a faulty inlet valve, water supply issue or other internal component problem. The cause needs to be checked before replacing parts.
Why is water leaking around the base of my toilet?
Water around the base can indicate a failed seal, loose connection or another plumbing issue. It’s worth having it checked before the leak causes damage around the floor.
Why is my toilet flushing weakly?
Weak flushing can be caused by cistern problems, worn components, insufficient water entering the bowl or a drainage issue. I’ll work out whether the problem is in the toilet itself or further down the drain.
Should I repair or replace my toilet?
If the toilet is in good condition and a practical component repair will solve the issue, repair may make sense. Replacement can be a better option when the toilet is damaged, repeatedly failing, difficult to repair or when you simply want to upgrade it.
Can you replace a toilet even if it isn't broken?
Yes. You may want to replace an old toilet as part of a bathroom update, renovation or simply because you’d prefer a newer unit. Planned replacements are welcome.
How do I know if the problem is the toilet or a blocked drain?
If water rises when you flush, drains very slowly, or other fixtures around the house are also behaving strangely, the problem may be further down the drainage line. I’ll help determine whether you’re dealing with a toilet fault or a blocked drain.
Can you install a new toilet?
Yes. I can remove an existing toilet and install a suitable replacement. The new toilet needs to work with the existing waste outlet, water connection and available space, so it’s worth checking compatibility before purchase.
